Closing AI Skill Gaps in the Workforce

AI has just emerged as one of the most revolutionary technologies that can enhance our productivity in the workplace by incredible margins. However, it is still very new and most IT professionals have not become acquainted with it enough to fully extract the usefulness of AI during their daily tasks. The skill gaps are pretty drastic – 81% of IT professionals think they can use AI, but only 12% have the skills to perform prompt engineering effectively. AI prompt engineering is the art and science of structuring instructions to be as effective and specific as possible. Without the literacy to ask the right questions, AI will not be as helpful to these professionals as it could be.

72% of IT leaders are fully aware that these skill gaps need to be urgently addressed if their employees and companies are going to play a role in the AI revolution. Currently, there is a 50% hiring gap between AI jobs and AI job roles, meaning it is important to learn the “how” and “what” behind AI. Thankfully, there are online, skill-based certificates that are designed to upskill employees to become comfortable with AI in a variety of use cases, including Excel, financial management, and marketing.
