MarkH: Seth: I downloaded onto my computer, transferred to my SD card, and installed in about 30 min. Everything is working perfect. No apps different or any bugs. Even FoxFi works. How did you get Foxfi to work? Even their site says JB not supported.
Feb 10, 2013 @ 2:59 AM

Corey: Downloaded file using Mac, which auto-decompresses. I re-compressed, re-named the file exactly what's listed above "Blur_Version6.16.211.XT912.Verizon.en.US.zip", follow the steps, then says "E:signature verification failed" and installation aborts. HELP ME, I NEED JELLY BEAN!
Feb 4, 2013 @ 8:51 PM

Ethan: Same problem as dave, it says i need to assert slacker radio - which i don't have...
Jan 25, 2013 @ 3:13 AM

Joel: Ok I found the error in my ways. I thought that when my phone seemed to be going through the upgrade process after the FastBoot that it was doing the JellyBean update but in reality it was still getting the phone up to ICS. After the phone fully loaded I shut it off and did the install update from SD and it did finally update to JellyBean 4.1.2
Jan 24, 2013 @ 11:23 AM

Joel: Using Droid Razr Utility 1.82 I did a Fastboot Restore back to 6.16.211 (ICS 4.0.4 Official OTA Software) - Doing this removed root and took me back to qe 0/1 Without adding anything back on my phone I downloaded the file from the download button above (http://fs1.d-h.st/download/00022/vCW/Blur_Version.6.16.211.XT912.Verizon.en.US.zip) and put it on my micro-SD card. Booting my phone it automatically saw this file as I understand it should and loaded it. After this file was loaded it rebooted my phone. When my phone came up I went to settings - about phone and found that the version is 4.0.4 I found after "flashing" this file I've had a lot of problems with gapps crashing so I'm going to go back to Droid Razr Utility 1.82 and do the FastBoot again. If I missed a step please reply and let me know.
Jan 24, 2013 @ 11:03 AM

rm: Just downloaded and installed - works like a charm. Had issue with 4.0.4 when phone always been hot and restarted itself each 10-15 minutes. Everything is okay now and interface response much faster.
Jan 15, 2013 @ 8:10 PM

Sawlty Dawg: link works fine for me almost finished downloading it now
Jan 14, 2013 @ 2:46 PM

Josh D: It was my work internet not letting me download the file. I d/l direct to my SD card on my phone over 4g and installed that way. I followed these steps that were already posted above. Go to link below and follow update #5. Happy Holidays http://www.droid-life.com/2012/12/24/original-droid-razr-receiving-mysteriously-large-331mb-update-as-build-98-72-8/#more-92773

Josh D: I cant download the file. Do I click the download tab under the advertisement?
Jan 10, 2013 @ 3:23 PM

Mark: How long should the update take? Things seem to be moving smoothly, but I've been stuck on "Patching system files ..." for a while. Also, do I need to wipe cache when I am done installing? Thanks!
Jan 9, 2013 @ 1:30 AM

geoff: Play store will not run now, it keeps stopping. Anybody else have that problem? Everything else works fine.
Jan 8, 2013 @ 9:20 PM

markzilla25: I'm on the 6.16.214 build and can't get this to update. Anyone know of a workaround? will the 215 update that puts it back to 211 work?

Jan 2, 2013 @ 12:14 AM

ArmyGuy305: IT DOES WORK, I installed it last night and am starting the New Year with Jelly Bean 4.1.2 on my RAZR MAXX Thank You WARDCST!You saved me money cause I was about to get a new phone just for Jelly bean,it's working great and I feel like I have a new phone, though it still is the original RAZR MAXX, for those who dont know how to install, click the banner/tab that says "DOWNLOAD" (Gray/White letters)on the top center of this page, save it on your PC and if your paranoid like me run a Virus Scan on the file just to be safe, save it on your RAZR SD Card and follow Larry's post from "Dec 24, 2012 @ 10:17 PM" and BAM! Jelly Bean on your RAZR, TOO EASY!
Jan 1, 2013 @ 5:55 PM

Jan 1, 2013 @ 5:31 AM

Dec 31, 2012 @ 8:22 PM

sfk8one: I did a factory wipe before installing, I just wanted everything to go smooth. It all works like butter, thanks. @Razmx Once you go forward, there's no way to go back. Sorry
Dec 31, 2012 @ 1:23 PM

Razmx: Can anyone let me know how to get back/install the official ICS update that I had on my razr maxx before i manually updated to JB. this was my first time doing any sort of manual update. The ICS i had was the official one that i upgraded to via system update. Pleasehelp.. Just some stuff missing on here... Like, speed dial setup etc. Thanks to anyone who can help :)
Dec 31, 2012 @ 6:53 AM

John: I just installed this earlier. It works fine on a stock unrooted DRM. What I did was simply move the zip file to the root of SD Card-ext using a basic file manager (Astro, to be exact) and then booted the phone into recovery mode and installed the update from the SD Card. I'm satisfied as it seems like we've been waiting forever for this. Also, I have not seen any issues with connectivity at all. Everything seems to be up to par.
Dec 30, 2012 @ 8:37 PM

wardcst: @Leo Your are welcome Enjoy!
Dec 30, 2012 @ 2:40 PM

Leo: Just want to say thanks! Everything works perfectly!
Dec 30, 2012 @ 2:11 PM

Frank: I get an error 7 when trying to update. I have a a Razr is this for Razr Maxx? Thought the update file maybe different? It does the system check and gives me the error. Please help!!!
Dec 30, 2012 @ 11:28 AM

Kelly: Verizon usually does a soak test, providing upgrade to certain handsets, to fix rollout bugs. I read up on this before. On the schedule, Verizon has JB update rolling out first quarter in 2013.
Dec 30, 2012 @ 4:08 AM

dave32: Ive done all the steps and upon the install i get to number 7 ans it tells me that the install has been aborted. Tells me to assert patch for slacker radio apk file. I dont even have slacker radio so i dont understand this.any help would be greatly appreciated

Bill: @wardcst i did everything you said but the installation aborts when it gets the verifying system part
Dec 29, 2012 @ 9:37 AM

Ankur: this is the best way to get jb if you couldnt update OTA. did it with ease . every thing is buttery smooth and every single app works. gallery ui has been changed. multitasking is at speeds now. google now is good too. notif tray is looking good. lack of power toggles in the notif tray is dissappointing. wifi hotspot and bluetooth share not working though. project butter is cool. its 4.1.2 altough 4.2 woulve been better. battery still sucks bigtime. waiting for the big red to reply to this much felt soak test... cant keep my hands off the device now.
Dec 29, 2012 @ 7:41 AM

Dan: Working great on my Razr Maxx. I did completely format before doing it, and had no problems. Loving Jelly bean so far.
Dec 29, 2012 @ 4:09 AM

Bill : How do you install this without a sd card or am I just fucked here
Dec 29, 2012 @ 12:36 AM

ARS: Lost my Data - -then got it back! So yesterday I Updated my stock Droid Razr with Jelly Bean following the Larry's instructions. Everything worked great except...I had No 3G or 4G data after the install. WiFi - yes. Rebooted, Cleared Cache, changed network settings several times, toggled mobile data, etc. Even tried to reinstall ICS--Aborted several times. Nothing changed- still broke. Phone worked fine except NO DATA. Took it to Verizon and they where baffled. (Did NOT mention that I installed Jelly Bean however said that it "May have been updated" when she asked) A new phone is in the mail but I need to wait a few days. So I tried one last time to reinstall ICS but Aborted several times. Decided to do a factory reset/wipe the phone. So I reset the phone - no big deal - system runs thru setup procedures - I resynced my backed up stuff - phone is now 100% with 4G WITH JELLYBEAN. I hope this help the next person.
Dec 28, 2012 @ 6:32 PM

Jay: @ nxstang , do it from your phone.
Dec 28, 2012 @ 3:56 PM

Jay: I just got off the phone with a Motorola Tech 2 guy and she said that those that received the update were lucky. The masses will receive the update in Q1 of 2013. The update pushed out will be the same that will be released in 2013, so why are they waiting , who knows. So, if you can the official update on a site, get it for its going be the same thing they roll out when they get around to it.
Dec 28, 2012 @ 3:53 PM

JimWhit: @wardcst...brilliant! Thank you so much! I was bummed when my OTA failed. Everything looks and works great. My RAZR seems to be even faster. Thanks again!

Dec 27, 2012 @ 5:51 AM

Dec 27, 2012 @ 3:28 AM

Dec 26, 2012 @ 10:07 PM

wardcst: @Charlie This update was pushed from Motorola. So it is up to them to get us on the update path. If I had went in and taken it off there server then it would be our problem. All I did was save a copy of what they pushed to my phone & Posted it.
Dec 26, 2012 @ 9:40 PM

Charlie: So let's say I download this, and then the official one comes out OTA, will it still let me update my phone to the official? and if it doesn't, what do i have have to do to get it to...kinda new at this. Thanks!

Dec 26, 2012 @ 6:05 PM

Elison: Hey guys, I have downloaded this and installed as per the instructions on droidrzr.com. Project Butter really is great ! I think they removed support for Ad hoc wifi networks. I am not able to connect to 3G right now although that seems like my carrier is having problems. I could connect to another EDGE service.
Dec 26, 2012 @ 4:02 PM

James: I followed all the instructions and downloaded the update onto my SD card, but every time I try to flash it it just says "error in sideload" when it tries to verify current system what do i do?
Dec 26, 2012 @ 5:38 AM

Corey: @JET This is the Jelly Bean update. The reason the version number says 6.16.211 is because that is the version it is updating FROM.
Dec 26, 2012 @ 2:50 AM

wardcst: @jet Motorola always uses the number of the buid you are on So this update is for Version.6.16.211.XT912 Which means it is updating to the next build up from this one. Tell the 4000 plus people they are wrong and not getting JB
Dec 26, 2012 @ 2:50 AM

JET: The link above is for the 4.0.4 version of IceCreamSandwich, not JellyBean...Verizon pushed this in June...not sure what you all getting excited about...

Jess: Does my phone need to be rooted in order to instal this update? It aborts due to Signature Verification, and I can't seem to find a way to disable it.
Dec 25, 2012 @ 4:29 AM

Deuce1912: I'm having an issue. It says the install completed successfully but the phone gets stuck on boot at the red Droid logo. Do I need to do a factory reset?
Dec 25, 2012 @ 3:35 AM

demoguy: Drop it in the folder sdcard-ext if your doing it in your phone thats the actual sdcard folder and dont unzip it you can leave it as is or change the name to update.zip if you want but no promises it will work like that
Dec 25, 2012 @ 3:32 AM

Rachel : I downloaded it. But can't find it when I move it to the sd card. Do you unzip it first and what folder should I put it in to open it under recovery?

Dec 25, 2012 @ 2:33 AM

CJ: Yes it does work once you can download the file. As you are downloading the file look at the file name so you can transfer the file to your SD card. if you cant transfer it to your SD card follow my step and it will work. after you get the file onto your SD card follow Larrys steps. It will work! and it is Jelly Bean.

Larry: Manually install update: Download file from above and drop on SD card (not internal storage) Power phone off Hold Power and both Volume Up and Down until boot screen appears From boot screen, scroll down to “Recovery” with Volume Down Press Volume Up to select it once it has been highlighted When Android and exclamation show up, press both Volumes at the same time. Then “install update from external storage” and find the file.
